Ugledar is nearly encircled following a Russian breakthrough between Prechistovka and Pavlovka, over the Kashlagach River. Some Ukrainian units have abandoned their positions in this area, which led the Ukrainian command to transfer reinforcements from Ugledar itself. This, in turn, led to another Russian breakthrough in the southeastern outskirts of the city. At the same time, Russian pressure continued from the northeast on Yuzhnodonbasskaya mine №3.
The distance between the right and left flanks under Russian Forces control in the Ugledar area is about 3 miles and that giving them fire control of the supply routes of the Ukrainian Forces in Ugledar.
Russian Forces also expanded control in the area of the village of Vodyanoye and advancing in the direction of Bogoyavlenka.
Control over Ugledar is of strategic importance for both the Russian side and the Ukrainan, as the city is located on one of the key transportation arteries in the region. Russians occupied the slag heap of the Selidovskaya mine (which dominates the area) and reached the outskirts of Tsukurinoye. Today, they are developing their offensive, trying to gain a foothold on the railway line to the west of the slag heap, and to move further north and south of it. The idea is similar to what the Russians did in Ocheretino-Novogrodovka, bisecting the Ukrainian defenses along a railroad. If the Russians move further north, it takes them beyond Selidovo, which can then be enveloped from the south. If they move along to the south, then Tsukurinoye, Gornyak, and Kurakhovka can all be encircled. Eventually, the Russians can get to the rear of the Kurakovo fortified area from the north.
Pokrovsk
