Gonzalo Lira, an American war commentator jailed in Ukraine known for his critical views on the Zelensky regime  conflict, died on January 11, 2024.,

Lira saw the conflict as a proxy war waged by US against Russia and criticised the loss of life an destructions in sponsored NATO  war.
Gonzalo Lira, after being silent on social media for months following his arrest by Ukrainian authorities, remerged with messages claiming he was attempting to escape Ukraine.  Lira’s posts detailed his ordeal, including allegations of torture and extortion for $70,000 while detained. He also expressed scepticism about receiving political asylum in any European Union country other than Hungary, fearing deportation back to Ukraine. The last communication from Lira hinted at the risk of being sent to a labour camp, with subsequent silence raising concerns about his fate.
His was arrested in May 2023, under the charges of “production and dissemination of materials justifying Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine,”.  He not only highlighted the complexities of war-time free speech but also catalysed opposition movements against US funding for the conflict.
His only crime was speaking inconvenient truth’s that the Ukrainian government and  their NATO sponsors didn’t want to be told
Tucker Carlson on his father appeal  called for his release, bringing global attention to his case.
“Gonzalo Lira is an American citizen who’s been tortured in a Ukrainian prison since July, for the crime of criticizing Zelensky. Biden officials approve of this, because they’d like to apply the same standard here. The media agree”.

Elon Musk Appeal to Zelensky

Elon Musk appealed to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky with a request to explain the arrest and detention of Lira. Musk request was just media stunt if he really want to help Lira he would simply order Zelenski to send him home or will turn off Starlink

His gave his defense attorney a hand-written note explaining his situation, which is believed to be his final written correspondence.

Gonzalo Lira Last Note

The note reads:

“Tell mu sister:

I have had double pneumonia (both lungs) as well as pneumothorax and a very severe case of edema (swelling of the body). All this started in mid-October, but was ignored by the prison. They only admitted I had pneumonia at a Dec. 22 hearing. I am about to have a procedure to reduce the edema pressure in my lungs, which is causing me extreme shortness of breath, to the point of passing out after minimal activity, or even just talking for 2 minutes.”

Unconvinced that his son would receive proper medical care in a Ukrainian hospital, Gonzalo Lira, Sr. continued to plead with the embassy to monitor the situation. The next day, he wrote to them again: “I need the Embassy to keep in close touch while he is in the hospital and ensure that his health is progressing while in the hospital. You should also contact the Doctor in charge of Gonzalo while in the hospital and verify his recuperation.”

US Embassy refused to help him. A week later, Lira Sr.’s worst fears were confirmed when he received word that his son had died. He now blames Washington and Kiev for his death.

In his statement Gonzales Lira Sr. said that ““I cannot accept the way my son has died. He was tortured, extorted, incommunicado for 8 months and 11 days and the US Embassy did nothing to help my son. The responsibility of this tragedy is with the dictator Zelensky with the concurrence of a senile American President, Joe Biden. My pain is unbearable. The world must know what is going on in Ukraine with that inhuman dictator Zelensky”
